Plain version

AFQT is the 1–99 score branches use first. Job line scores come after that.

AFQT is a 1-99 percentile from Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Arithmetic Reasoning, and Mathematics Knowledge. Active-duty floors as of 2026-09-05: Army 31, Navy 31, Marines 31, Air Force 31, Space Force 31, Coast Guard 32. Job-specific MOS, AFSC, and rate line-score requirements sit on top of those floors. Sources are cited per row.

Common questions

AFQT questions, answered.

What is a good AFQT score?

Most enlistment minimums sit at 31 (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Space Force); the Coast Guard requires 32. AFQT 50+ qualifies for most enlistment incentives and selective specialties; AFQT 70+ unlocks competitive technical fields.

How is the AFQT calculated?

AFQT is computed from four ASVAB subtests — Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Arithmetic Reasoning, and Mathematics Knowledge. The DoD raw composite is 2·VE + AR + MK (where VE = WK + PC), converted to a 1–99 percentile.

Do I need an account to use the calculators?

No. The AFQT calculator and per-branch line-score calculators run entirely in the browser. An optional email plan is offered after the result.

How we work

Every score floor on this site is linked to its branch source.

We're an independent editorial publication. We don't take recruiter money. Every minimum AFQT and every line-score formula is cited per row and re-verified every 90 days.
